This 15 day tour leads you to unique Bhutanese experiences through the remote eastern regions.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Paro
- Arrive at Paro airport, after immiration and custom formalities, your guide for the trip will receive you at the airport.
- Visit Ta Dzong, one of the finest natural Museum in South Asia.
- Visit Rinpung Dzong which is in the same location as Ta dzong- built in 1645 to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders.
- In the evening, stroll along the main street and visit local handicraft shops.
- Overnight at Paro.
Day 2: Paro - Thimphu
- In the morning, drive to Thimphu
- Sightseeing at Thimphu- Visit to the National Memorial chorten, National Library, Folk Heritage Museum and important sights at Thumphu.
- On the way visit Semtokha Dzong.
- Visit the Government -run Handicrafts Emporium and privately owned craft shops.
- Overnight at Thimphu.
Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing
- Whole day tour of Thimphu
- Visit to the National Memorial chorten
- National Library
- Folk Heritage Museum
- Tashichho Dzong
- National Textile Museum
- National Institute of Traditional Medicine.
- School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts.
- Visit Government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shop. Shopping if any.
Day 4: Thimphu - Punakha
- A 3 hour drive through the picturesque valleys and mountain slopes.
- A tour to the Dochula-pass.
- Explore important and historic sites at Punakha, and enjoy the majestic view of the himalaya.
- Visit Punakha Dzong.
- Punakha Valley sight-seeing.
- Overnight at Punakha.
Day 5: Punakha - Wangdue - Gangtey valley
- On the way to Gangtey, visit Wangduephrodang dzong, built in 1638.
- While in Gangtey, Visit Gangtey Gompa- built in 1613.
- Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter.
- Overnight at Phobjikha.
Day 6: Gangtey - Trongsa
- Drive to Trongsa via 18th Chendibji chorten, built by Lama Shida, from Tibet to cover the remains of an evil spirit that was subdued at this spot.
- Joyful and spectacular road trip through the beautiful high altitudes.
- Overnight at Trongsa.
Day 7: Trongsa - Bumthang
- Early morning visit to Trongsa Dzong.
- Trongsa sightseeing and drive to Bumthang.
- Overnight at Bumthang.
Day 8: Bumthang Sightseeing
- Explore ancient monastries and sacred sites, some dating back to the 7th century- Jambay Lhakhang, Tamzhing Lhakhang and Kenchosum Lhakhang.
- After lunch, visit to Jakar Dzong also known as Fortress of the White Bird.
- Overnight at Bumthang.
Day 9: Bumthang - Monggar
- After breakfast, drive to Monggar, visit Ura lhakhang on the way.
- Drive through Thrumshingla Pass (highest pass in Bhutan).
- Time permitting, stop at Sengor, explore Sengor village.
- Then, drive to subtropical region of Lingmethang with completely different vegetation.
- Overnight at Monggar.
Day 10: Monggar - Trashigang
- After breakfast, visit Monggar and proceed Trashigang.
- Visit Dremtse and Ozorong lowlands on the way.
- Explore Trashigang Dzongkhag.
- Overnight at Trashigang.
Day 11: Trashigang - Trashiyangtse
- After breakfast, drive to Trashiyangtse, a small and lovely village.
- Stroll to surrounding countryside.
- Visit Monasteris and important historic sites- The Dzong, Gom Kora, Arts & Craft school (famous for wooden containers and bowls).
- Overnight at Trashigang.
Day 12: Trashigang - Bumthang.
- Its a long drive to Bumthang, so we 'll start early.
- Stop at different places for photography and view different valleys.
- Overnight at Bumthang.
Day 13: Bumthang - Thimphu
- Drive to Thimphu via Trongsa and Wangduephrodang.
- Stop at different places for photography and view different valleys.
- Overnight at Thimphu.
Day 14: Thimphu - Paro
- Leisure in the morning.
- Afternoon, visit various shops.
- Late in the evening, drive to Paro via Simtokha.
- Overnight at Paro.
Day 15: Paro Sightseeing
- Whole day tour to the important and historic sites of Paro- Ta Dzong, Paro Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang.
- After lunch drive to the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647 by the Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate Bhutanese vistory over Tibetans.
- Weather permitting, you can see the majestic peak of Mt. Jomolhari.
- You can also see from the road, the Taktshang monastery clinging on the rocks above.
- Stroll thourgh the Paro town in the evening. Shopping if any.
Day 16: Departure
- After breakfast, drive to the airport on time to catch your flight.
